Activision cited data from Microsoft when it announced that Ghosts had reached the top spot on Xbox Live as the most played game this week. The publisher also revealed that the average gamer’s play session was even longer than those of CoD: Modern Warfare 3 and CoD: Black Ops II, although they sneakily didn’t mention exactly how long those play sessions were. 

Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg said that the company expects Ghosts to be the best selling title for the PS4 and Xbox One.

For comparison, the mega-success Grand Theft Auto: V generated $800 million on launch day, and reached the $1 billion mark in three days, but notably those huge numbers include consumer sales.
